Metal-free Fillings

Metal-free Fillings

Our dentists use fillings to restore teeth that have become damaged due to decay or trauma. Our tooth-colored composite solutions help seal cavities to prevent bacteria and infection from spreading any further.

When placing your fillings, we will first remove all decay and clean the affected area. Then, we’ll place the filling material that matches your natural teeth and shape it accordingly.

Finally, we’ll bond the filling material onto your tooth’s surface to create a discreet and beautiful restoration. Thus, returning the functionality of your tooth and, in turn, your smile.

Crowns

Crowns

When you have a severely cracked, fractured, or decayed tooth, a dental crown could be ideal. The purpose of a crown is to restore your tooth’s function and strength by protecting the damaged tooth.

Our doctors use modern technology to take digital impressions of your teeth so they can design a crown that best fits your needs. Our team uses CEREC® technology…Opens a new window to the CEREC website… to design, create, and place your tooth in-house! No referrals or temporaries needed.

Before placing your crown, your natural tooth must first go through a preparation process to make room for the crown. Then, your dentist will scan the tooth and design your new crowns using CAD/CAM technology. The newly designed crown’s data is sent to our in-house milling machine, and your restoration is produced. Once ready, we will place the crown and bond it using a special solution.

The result is a restoration that looks and feels like your natural tooth while blending seamlessly with your smile.

Bridges

Bridges

Dental bridges are custom restorations used to replace one or more missing teeth.

A bridge consists of two crowns bonded to either side of an artificial tooth. The crowns are placed over the adjacent teeth (to the gap) to act as anchors to hold the new custom-made tooth in place.

Bridges help restore your tooth’s natural look and function, prevent future dental problems (such as tooth shifting), and are an excellent alternative for those who aren’t candidates for dentures or dental implants.

Extractions

Exctractions

A tooth extraction may be needed to keep your smile healthy and free from oral disease or in preparation for a future procedure.

Before removing a tooth, we’ll take digital x-rays to determine your tooth’s condition and health. Next, a dentist will examine your tooth, and determine if an extraction is required.

In the case of a tooth removal, we will clean and numb the surrounding area with local anesthetic (we have sedation dentistry options available too for our more nervous patients). Our restorative dentist in Columbia, MD, then gently rocks your tooth to loosen it and gently extracts it.

After extraction, the site is kept clean, and you are provided with some at-home instructions.

Inlays & Onlays

Inlays & Onlays

Dental inlays and onlays are commonly used to repair teeth that are cracked, fractured, or suffering from severe decay. These restorations provide a more robust solution compared to dental fillings as they replace large sections of missing tooth structure.

Using impressions as a guide, we use custom-made inlays and onlays to restore any missing or severely damaged parts of your teeth.

The distinct difference between the two restorations is as follows:

They’re recognized as inlays when the restoration is placed between the little points or cusps on your premolars or molars. On the other hand, onlays extend between one or more of the cusps and onto the chewing surface of your tooth.

No matter if you need an inlay or an onlay, rest-assured that our dentists use the finest tooth-colored materials and technology to restore your smile.

Dental Implants

Our dental implants can be the ideal solution for you if you have lost a tooth due to a traumatic event or severe decay!

Dental implants consist of small posts that mimic your missing tooth root. This solid foundation stabilizes your jaw and the surrounding teeth while serving as a base for dental restorations (i.e., crowns, bridges, and dentures).
